Baked Apple Slices

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples granny smith, cortland, or golden delicious;
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar maple sugar or white sugar would substitute, See note 1
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar See note 1
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350. Lightly grease an 8x8 baking pan, or cast iron skillet and set aside.
  • Peel, core and slice the apples in to 1/2" thick slices and add them to a large bowl.
  • In a small bowl mix together the sugars, cinnamon and salt and stir to combine. Add to the apples and toss very well to coat all sides.
  • Transfer the apples to the baking dish and dot with the butter.
  • Bake 25 to 27 minutes until hot and bubbling. If you would like yours softer, bake an additional 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Serve warm with ice cream or by themselves.

Notes

Note 1: Sugars in this recipe can be substituted with an equal amount of honey. If you would like to use Stevia or Monkfruit that's fine but you'll need to add a little at at a time until you reach your desired level of sweetness.
