Love this recipe, but instead of mixing the cherries with the thickened juice, put the drained cherries into the pie shell, level, then pour the thickened juice over the cherries. That way they don’t get mangled. Works great!

In reply to <a href="https://feastandfarm.com/homemade-cherry-pie/comment-page-2/#comment-143613">Maryann</a>.

Hi Maryann, I've learned over the years that people make cobblers a lot of ways. Some people put a pie crust on it and bake it. Around here, cobblers are done with a loose batter and fruit that has been cooked in water then all that water and fruit is added to the pan with the batter and it separates as it cooks. If you are used to a thin one like that then no this pie filling would not be appropriate. If you are a pie crust on top person then yes, I think it would be fine. --Rachel

I have not tried the recipe, so I'm not leaving a rating!
I'm wondering if this filling could be used for cobbler? Would it need a bit more liquid?

I used tapioca starch (double if you use this) because cornstarch is pretty bad for you. Most sour cherry recipes use too much sugar so I feel like 3/4 cup is plenty. I want to get that nice sweet/tart balance.
